In Flight Hardware Failure

When I flew to New Zealand on January 27th for my post-breakup escape, I took with me a LinkSys Wireless Access Point (WAP) since I knew Kevin had a network in his house, but did not have network in the guest house where I would be staying. So I took the WAP with me. It worked well, but only gave me coverage to the poll, and not to the guest house as I had hoped.

Anyway I returned January 31st, and since then at home I have used my home network rather than the wireless network. With a network in most places I need to use the laptop arround the house there is not much need for a wireless network. Well, except for wanting to watch TV in a few places.

So I dragged out the WAP a few minutes ago, and tried to get it to work. The lights lit up, but my computer did not connect. Strange. But hey, this ain’t supposed to rattle. Hmm. Time to open up the box. Hmm… Should those pins be bent? Shouldn’t that card be plugged in? Time to fix the pins and plug the card in. The fixed board is below with the card the centre silver device with the pins at the bottom of the photo…

I can only guess that the vibration in the plane caused the card to come partially away from the pins. So, is it working? You tell me… This entry was written using the wireless connection whilst watching Junkyard Wars
