Remote Control Tank with Live Video – DIY

There was an interesting link from SlashDot.Org listing details on how one person had placed a wireless video camera onto a children’s remote control tank. The link is here.

The following picture is from the Sydney 2000 Olympics where I had GPS tracking equipment in the helicopter… The white thing on the side is the video camera…. Now, if I could only remote control this aircraft the same as a toy tank then things would be cool…

SuitSat

There are a lot of satellites out in space. Some have strange names like SloshSat, InMarSat, AusSat etc. A good friend of mine, Steve Bible, in the USA has been working with some friends on SuitSat for the past few months in his part time to build another satellite. This one will be called SuitSat.

There is some more information on the ARRL WWW site but what this does not mention is that much of the work is being done by TAPR, an organization which I am a board member of.

SuitSat is a satellite built into a surplus russian space suit! The idea is to put a video camera, some antennas and radio equipment in the suit and send it into space during a space walk. This allows them to do some experiments with satellites as well as get rid of some junk. Stay tuned for more details.

Did you know that Australia’s first satellite was designed and built in 1965 in Melbourne? It was launched about 5 years later, known as AO-5 from memory. This pre-dates the AusSat/Optus satellites by about 20 years.

Armless

I couldn’t resist the pun… My arm is feeling a lot better… I have almost all the movement at the moment which is good. And not much pain when I do twist it too far. I am so glad that it is better since I needed to finish off a response to a proposal concerned with my business, and that has come out to about 7 pages.

Theatre Review

There was a review of a play in the Sydney Morning Herald yesterday. I have no idea what the story was about, or anything else about it apart from the title and the fact that it was on at the Bondi Pavilion. The title is so funny as a commentry on the human condition. The title is…

“I love you. Your Perfect… Now Change”
