I have just solved the problem. Turned out to be something simple, but the lack of debugging support in IIS did not help things. Basically (as basically as it can be) the problem was that IIS was not configured to listen to all IP addresses that it knew about. It was only listening on one that looked right but was never actually being pointed to. So I told it to listen on anything that it was not already listening on, and things worked. Just worked.
Right now I am seeing some vehicles in the system, and I am really impressed. More work needs to be done, but I think the client will be impressed, and so will his client I think. I just wish they had more vehicles moving around right now, and I wish I had some better maps. The best I have for the region that I am interested in is a world map. And that does not really have the required detail.
Whilst installing the software I have been updating my notes on the install. I will have to turn these into a better install document. The problem is that when you know what you are doing things are so easy. Until then things are a real pain. You dont know where to look for things.
I will have a teleconferece with the client tomorrow morning. Since I am not building tomorrow I will be able to spend some time with them, and then maybe take myself to the movies. I participated in a survey a while back on the phone, and they gave two passes to a local cinema to anyone who participated. Sahara looks like the best on at the small independant cinema.
