I have just finished expanding on the manual. In truth it has probably been reduced in size, but it has been expaneded. The manual is now 26 pages and contains the basics on how to install the base product. It does not yet explain how to install all the bits and pieces that make the product into a suite. I removed some useless screen dumps, and added more words.

I just did a count of the additional products that make up the suite, and I counted another eight. They are TeamTrack TCP Listener for GPRS/CDMA, APRS Listener, Satellite Listener, Mapping Uploader, TeamTrack Jedgar (to kill off mis-behaving programs), TeamTrack Admin, TeamTrack for OziExplorer, and TeamTrack for OziExplorerCE. Each program has a different use, and clients only use a subset of all the options.

I think my canadian client has finally gone to bed… All the vehicle positions stopped about an hour ago – or just before 1AM local time. They are eight hours ahead of me, but the pervious day. [I find it easier saying it is 8 hours ahead than 16 hours behind – makes more sense to me].

I think I am going to blow the socks off my client tomorrow when he sees what I have done. I think I have said that before, but I think it is the truth. I am proud of the work – I did not think the final part was going to be easy as it was. That was because I had the key components already written, meaning that I only needed to copy parts from three other programs to create this new one, and most of the code ware written.

The packet codec had a lot of work in it, but was written over many days over the last 18 months. Do things once properly and things just work.

Review: The House Husband

I have finished the book… The House Husband by Owen Whittaker. I could see this book turned into a movie – although I am not sure if it would be a comedy, or what. I think it would probably make a good ‘Chick Flick’. The idea behind the story is that a strugling musician is forced to give up his dream in order to look after his 4 year old and baby whilst his wife goes back to work.

And he finds that he is woefully un-prepared for this, and everyone is miserable thanks to this. And it chronicles about a year in this life as he comes to terms with his new existance, and then the fact that the changes drove his wife to have an affair with his best friend. [I have never understood the why anyone would have an affair – it is not something I could every do… I could never cheat in a relationship. It is not my thing… Then again I am not even in one, and unfortunately I don’t see one on the horizon at the moment, only thanks to lack of knowing any single women]

Things get interesting when his agent enters his song into the Eurovision Song Contest, and he actually becomes a finalist. The poor guy keeps complaining that the contest is a great way to kill a career… But thankfully it, along with his four year old, brings him and his wife back together. All in all I enjoyed the read. I think I will keep the book and read it again rather than taking it to the local book exchange…
