I have just won the auction for a ZIPIT wireless terminal. It will end up being about $100 which is a good price for a WiFi Instant Messaging terminal. It can also have an SSH program installed so I can connect to my server at home and use the LYNX text based web browser. Sure, graphics would be nice, but that adds power consumption and cost. This is a small device that can be used almost anywhere. I will see how it goes when I get it anyway.

Seems like I have some more work to do. I have a potential new client asking about a program called AFTrack that plugs into your Nokia 3650/6600/6630 phone and sends GPS data from a bluetooth GPS back to a server. I have not yet written the server, but it is not too hard to do, and I guess it will be added to my to-do list. The data can be sent via GPRS or SMS. The GPRS code should not be too hard as I have implemented something really similar in the past. SMS should be fairly easy too. I just need to work out how to add this – as a stand alone program, or as part of the client software.

Wikipedia has a list of most of the iPod hacks. Not a bad list… A good starting point if nothing else.

Time for breakfast I think… I also need to find some bits and pieces in the garage today for building… I was given a shopping list, and now just need to find it all 🙂
