Firstly, my laptop has been running low on HDD space… I have an 80 GByte HDD, and I was down to about 300 MBytes free, and I could not work out where it was all going. So I did a quick search on my HDD… I searched for files that were over 25 MBytes, and this was very interesting…

Firstly, it showed me that there was about 500 MBytes in the directory…
C:windowsdownloaded installations

This is from files that have been downloaded and installed, but are not deleted. iPod updates, and Quicktime seem to be culprits apart… amongst others.

But the big one was
C:documents and settingsDarryl SmithLocal SettingsTemp

There was about 12 GBytes in temp files here. Some of it was Internet Explorer cache files, but most of the space seemed to be when I was looking at mpeg files over my network to my server. Many of these seemed to be stored in this directory! My next trick will be to find where the other files using up space are located. I am now up to 17 GBytes free… And I know I can do better…

I just just about finished building the simple cabinet I have been working on. I have taken some photos and I will post them here soon…
