So, earlier today I noted I was going to do some building, of a different type. I wanted to build a cabinet to store plastic cubes in. Cubes are great for storage but if you dont want them stacked they are a problem. So I needed to build a cabinet.

I wanted some 45cm MDF but the local hardware store did not have any. So I got them to saw up a sheet of 2.4m x 1.2m into as many 45cm x 82cm pieces as they could. It turned out that they could do five, which was idea, and they also had some leftovers at about 45cm x 38cm which was also perfect.

The smaller offcuts were joined to the top and bottom pieces with four screws on each section and glue. It turned out that the 45cm x 38cm was almost perfect… Slightly big, but I decided that this was not really a concern.

Then I put in the wooden brackets on the sides for the shelves. These were out of pine and screwed and glued. Quite simple really. Then I glued all the remaining joints and put the remaining offcut into one shelp. The other shelf ended up being made by three pieces of offcut. [I should have used a single piece for the shelf, and three pieces for the roof. Anyway it looks fine.

Then I glued and nailed the back on. And this is the result!
