It is my brothers birthday today so he is coming across for dinner… I have grabbed a book for him, and will probably get him a DVD of some type too… My brother absolutely loves reading, and I am sure he will like the book I got him.

Today in the background I have been running a program to do some billing reports. i think I mentioned this yesterday. Well, the reports have been running for the last 20 hours or so; meaning that I would expect that the reports will be finished first thing tomorrow morning. The reason that this is taking so long is that the access to the database is only through the Web Services for security, and there is no function that returns just the count of the records being selected. When I get the next lot of function calls written I will have to add one for this purpose.

Thanks in part to the Internet and the mobile phone there is now a thing called a ‘Flash Mob’. These are groups of people who suddenly converge on a location to do something strange and then dissapear. Well, people on BoingBoing.NET have worked out where the term comes from. The FLASH part comes from the australian definition meaning grand or upper class. And Mob is the collective nouns for Kangaroos. The first Flash Mob was a group of women in Tasmania in the 1800 protesting against someone – in essence a large civil disobediance project.
