LifeLine

There are reports in the Sydney Morning Herald that LifeLine might need to close if it does not fine alternate funding at the end of the financial year.

According to the SMH, “It is the nation’s only 24-hour general counselling service, with has centres as far afield as Karratha, Alice Springs, Charleville and Broken Hill.

When Broken Hill LifeLine commenced on 6th December, 1964, my Grandparents were one of the foundation members. For SIXTEEN years my grandmother served as a senior counselor, and was Broken Hill’s first LifeLine counsellor.. This involved both telephone and face—to—face counseling at the centre. In the evenings, the LifeLine phone would be forwarded to my grandpatents home to provide after hours counselling if required.
