Programming
I have just spent probably 30 minutes in total trying to get some code running. What I was trying to do was to use a ‘Web Service’ I had written so I could send some data from a laptop to the webservice. Anyway things were just not working. I could not work it out. The code looked identical to some code i had used before. In fact most of it was cut and paste, meaning it should just work.
I was missing something. Breaking for breakfast did not help. I added and deleted the reference to the web service so many times I cannot remember all the tricks I tried. But none of them worked. None at all. What can I be doing wrong. It must be something obvious. What can it be. I am not sure what made me think of it, but I remembered I actually needed to say I wanted to use the webservice in the same function that I was using it. And I had forgotten about this. ARGH. I had simply forgotten to add the following line.
Dim aprsws As New APRSws1.APRSWS
It was as simple as that. I guess I should have stayed in bed a bit longer this morning and got some more sleep after doing some other programming and debugging last night. Well, that is my excuse and I am sticking to it.
I have a client coming over before lunch to drop some radios off. Should be fun.
Free Wifi
I just saw a story about how Dayton, Ohio is getting Free Wifi for a trial. Looks cool. If only Sydney would get this… but then again with GPRS, 1x and Unwired there is not so much of the need to have WiFi. I have a standing invitation to visit Dayton – a good friend lives there. The announcement can be found on this page
Also, the SMH has an article about email, noting it is growing about 80% per year.
Music
I have just >read that Neil Young out of hospital after being operated on for an anurism. He is VERY lucky. This morning, the notable tracks has included Jewel with ‘Sometimes it be that way’ where she apologizes for everything… Then Midnight Oil and “The Bastards’ Song”. Followed by the genteel song ‘Stay’ by ‘Paul Mac’ from the album ‘3000 feet high’
