I am right now recovering from a run – sitting here listening to Pink Floyd on Random Play. I have had a nice shower and I am feeling semi-human. Just like any decent exercise it can take a lot out of you.

I found running quite useful. I was thinking about a programming problem I was having and I could just not get my head around what I needed to do. So I decided to go for a run. After only a few minutes I had a solution devised. Whats more, when I got back to my office and implemented it, it worked first go. And I got to spend the rest of the exercise making sure the solution was correct, and some other issues.

I ended up running about 3 km in about 20 minutes. This was solid running about 9 km/h and now that I am relaxing I am feeling great (even if I do want an afternoon sleep at my desk). I just did not feel like doing the extra 500m loop around a local oval although I probably could have if I pushed myself.

I am trying some software called MindManager, and I am finding it quite useful to organize my thoughts. It is sort of a an electronic whiteboard, but in a more structured free-form way. That does not really make sense, but it really does. OneNote from microsoft is really unstructured, and Visio is really structured. This is sort of what happens when you combine the two.
