One of my pet hates at the moment is the fact that when I buy a postpack it contains an area to sign for ‘Dangerous Goods’. They want me to sign saying that the parcel may go via air, and is safe to fly. Yeah, sure. I just sent a parcel across Sydney and they wanted me to sign this.

So I checked up, and I found that parcels are required to display a notice to sign if they might be sent by air. Thankfully, the Australia Post ParcelPostGuide has details on when a surface mail item ‘may’ be sent by air. No parcels to Victoria will be. Only parcels sent to four postcodes in NSW will be. etc. So for the majority of surface mail, this does not need to be filled in.

The reason I hate signing this is that I do not need to sign for parcels in my own boxes… Just the Australia Post ones. And I find this bizzare. Bizzare in the extreme actually.

My WWW site continues to improve with the quality of hits – with a new group of people coming to my WWW site just looking for the Latitude and Longitude of their own suburb. I have a page with many of the Latitudes and Longitudes listed, and this page is becoming really popular. It is good to give something back to the Australian Community.

A friend of mine has just asked me what Geocaching is. Basically this is hiding an object, and saying where it is by latitude and longitude. Then other people search for it. But it could be very hard to get to… or in a hidden tunnel, or anything… Really a cool concept for people who love bushwalking
