This russian site has a list of what have been voted the top 10 experiments of all time. I did some of these at highschool and at univesity like the double slit diffraction of light one. Some I would like to try like the Milikan oil drop experiment. These experiments told us a lot about the world, and allowed us as a society to develop things like the transistor and the IC, or even to measure the circumferance of the earth.

I love building things. If I did not there is no way that I would be helping my best friend build a plane just about every weekend. I would not be an engineer either. I found a great How To on how to build a really nice desk. Lots of instructions are given with a complete design. One to keep in the back of my mind. Another of those sites is this one which contains a photo of a person who found a working DVD player in a skip and built it into a toolbox as hopefully a joke.

Securiteam has an interview with Ilfak Guilfanov who wrote and released the unofficial patch for the Windows WMF vulnrability. Short article, but enlightning.
