I have been doing some reading and thinking about the luggage restrictions in the UK. They tell you that you may only carry from a list of items that they specify. I have few problems with that. One report I saw – I think it was on the Qantas WWW site then added that fountain pens with ink were not permitted on board. This infers that other pens are being allowed on board. Which begs the question WHY? They are not on the permitted list. And if these are being allowed on what else is?

The BBC has a report of the issue that Musicians are having with the restrictions. They ofetn travel with very expensive instruments, and sometimes even book seats for them too. I guess if I had a musical instrument made from 200 year old wood that was worth the best part of $100,000 I would be doing the same.

The other thing I am wondering about – with international flights between Australia and the UK, technically only the UK leg needs to have the items restricted. Are flights from Australia really having carry on bags banned, or does the ban only exist from Bangkok/Singapore? Interesting question.
