TechNewsWorld has an interesting story on the mission that NASA does not want to do – that is the possible ditching of a space shuttle from orbit and picking up it’s passengers from the International Space Station. And also looks at how such a mission would kill off the ability of the USA to send people into space for some time – probably well over a decade.
I actually saw a shuttle in the new National Air and Space Museum near Washington DC last year. The photo of this is just below. The museum is really amazing, and cost about $350m, most of this from private funds. The shuttle was being refurbished for permament display so there was a lot of work being done on it. Back in 2002 when I worked on Ironman in Hawaii one of the peopel I was working with had actually designed and installed a wireless closed circuit TV system for the astronaughts. Cool Stuff… I can assure you that the flight from Sydney to Hawaii was very very interesting talking to him.

Random play had the song ‘This land is mine’ from Dido. I just love what this song is saying. Listen to the words and you will know.
