With really fast PC processors running at speeds like 3.3 GHz, it is strange that the tracking unit I am working on has a base speed of 9.2 MHz. With a clock doubler this increases to 18.4 MHz, but this is still really really slow. This is 1991 PC speeds, but it is all that is needed for the work that I am doing with it.
In fact I might even try it at the 9.2 MHz just to reduce the power consumption. This is important when you need to run things on batteries. The Rabbit also has a really low power mode which I will be looking at in the next few days. I think this processor can run at the grand speed of 32 KHz in low power mode if needed. That is about five orders of magnitude between the slow speed, and the fast speed of some PC’s these days. FIVE times.
Tomorrow will be mostly programming… The application I am workig on for my local client… Another one for an international client and my tracker. Although not much work is needed for the international one… Some user interface type stuff but that is about it. With the ability to change settings and that type of thing.
I also need to pack tomorrow for my trip. I have some paperwork to prepare. Packing should be five minutes for clothes and about 60 minutes for technology 🙂 Maybe not but you get the idea. When I was in Hawaii for IronMan I took about 60 Kg of bags… I was there for a week… And no, I did not have enough clothes… Normally I take too many. That time I took too few… But hey, that is what WalMart is for.
