Berrima was great… There is a nice Cafe down there next to the Alpacca centre where the food is great and you can sit outside and relax. I am not sure I would want to move down there but it is great to Visit. I would have been down there earlier but I left my cellphone in my car overnight, and missed Russell’s message when it came through.

The drive down there was also good – not too much traffic on the freeway. I love that part of the world – so peaceful.

And some bizarre news, according to the SMH (http://www.smh.com.au/news/World/Ecoefficient-power-station-will-let-the-grass-grow-under-Britishfeat/2005/05/31/1117305619398.html), a company over there is about to build a power station being operated on ‘Grass’. Buffalo Grass to be exact, which they burn. And the reaction only releases the same amount of CO2 that the grass absorbed whilst growing…

“The plant will operate for 8000 hours a year and each hour will save one tonne of carbon-dioxide that would otherwise have been emitted using fossil fuels.”. This is a rather strange statement to make. After all there are only 8766 hours in a year anyway, meaning that the power station will operate for 11 months a year – which is about normal for any power station.

I cannot work out quite why they mentioned the 8000 hours. Maybe it was mentioned in the press release. Then comes the question ‘Why did the press release say it’.

And if this is eco-friendly, is not coal equally as friendly? After all it is just releasing the CO2 that was stored when the plants that became the coal absorbed?
