Yesterday one of the things I worked on was fixing a year old DVD player that had failed. It just stopped working a couple of weeks back, and after checking the obvious things (such as no broken fuse etc) I sort of gave up on it…. Then I looked at it again yesterday, and saw that two of the capacitors on the power supply slightly deformed…

So I replaced them – not expecting it to fix things – bit it worked. I just put the new capacitors in, and stood back in case anything went wrong, and I now have a new DVD player.

I just got home from an afternoon building… well, to some extent thinking about building mostly. Found some rivets that did not work well… Actually they split when they were put in. This sort of delayed us for a while. Then we visited Glenn to see how well he had gone building his plane in the last few weeks… I will post some more info tomorrow about the building…

This is really cool – this photo from the shuttle during the week. From all reports it was taken with a 6 Megapixel Kodak camera. I think it is really amazing – and you can see so many details.
