I do not knwo what has happened today, by my phones have been fairly quiet. Maybe people have been reading my blog and taking this as an indication not to call. I do not know. Regardless, things have been relatively quiet. I did get a SKYPE from Taipai, but that was all.
This week it seems that I am becoming a regular at the Post Office. You would not believe how many post office recepits were in my wallet. I have been going there about twice a day – when people need things tomorrow if possible, or if I want to get them out tomorrow just from a marketing exercise. It gives people a good feeling when they order something on a tuesday afternoon, and it arrives on a thursday morning, or even better a wednesday morning. That is one of the ways to get repeat business. Another of these ways is to meet your customers needs.
I have one user of my software who works for a government agency. They have issues downloading my software updates from the net, and need to use a computer in another part of their organisation to get the software. And the way that things are set up is that they have been storing 2 mBytes onto CD-ROM and then throwing the CD-ROM away. They thought about using a USB memorystick, but they could not get their IT department to supply one. They could get a new PC but not a memory stick. So today I purchased a 128 MByte stick from GoLo for $20 and sent it to them as a present. When they get back from leave they will be so happy – I have solved one of their problems for them. Give people what they want and they will keep coming back to you.
