I have just edited the code for my tracker – one of my clients asked if I could get the power consumption even lower, and I promised to see what I could do. I found a way to do it – when the tracker is in IDLE, it goes into LOW POWER mode until something happens. In low power mode, we run the main processor at 32 KHz instead of 9 MHz. This has the result of reducing the amount of power used when running on battery power. Now I just need to fully test this, but it seems to be working well.

Of other news, some organisations are banning Google Desktop Search since it allows you to store the search indicies on the google server. The feel that this is a significant security issue.
