Not sure where I saw it, but it looks like Australia is going to introduce a DO NOT CALL register for all telemarketing calls in Australia, and all calls from overseas on behalf of Australian companies. And there would be legislative restrictions on the times that calls can be made, and identification requirements and the like. This is not before time.

The NY Times is reporting that Showtime in the USA hasv been given first right of refusal to the Smithsonian archive. Basically this would give them first access to anything in the archive and restrict access to others for public domain material.

Finally, looking at the SMH showed that one of the most popular articles was one on how New Idea were telling WHY TOM AND NICOLE SPLIT. Well, it seems that ‘FBI tapes tell why tom and nicole split’, but from what I can work out there is no detail in the magazine as to the contents of the tapes. But the tapes are actually made by a private investigator, and are probably a violation of US law. And publishing details would get you in serious hot water. Here in Australia the ‘Telecommunications (Interceptions) Act’ would really put you in hot water.
