There is a show on TV called ‘From Peking to Paris’ which is about a recreation of the 1905 Peking to Paris race. The show is something of a real version of the ‘Great Race’ movie but not starting at New York.

I am just amazed at the whole thing – the five teams are in either century old vehicles, or recreations of century old vehicles. And you can imagine the sort of problems they had by using vehicles like that. I just saw the GPS one of the teams is using – it is a pure GPS. No maps on it, just tells you speed and direction. Not that there would be a GPS available with maps of the Gobi desert.

I guess the way I would describe this series is just like a Rob Sitch documentry… I guess I would love to try driving that route… Sounds really fun. Not really a thing I would normally do though – but still sounds like a fun expedition… Although I would want to do it in something more modern!
