Music… More and More
OK. So my music collection is important to me. I am not sure why. I think many times I buy music to remember a feeling, or to relive a phrase. A few years ago I heard a song by Bachelor Girl which went “So I walked under a bus, I got hit by a train, keep falling in love, which is kind of the same…And it felt so good I want to do it again”. I just had to get the album and I must admit that I have not listened to it much since then – apart from just then listening to the chorus so that I could copy down the words.
Another artist like this was Tina Arena. I cannot remember the song I needed… But I ended up buying her entire back catalog.
Right now, my music collection includes 17 days 6 hours of music. This is 5867 songs from about 420 albums and about 350 artists. I think this is fairly impressive myself. Now if I could only listen to the lot in one sitting, and vote on each of them 🙂 And put them into playlists…
GSM Sound
GSM phones have some interesting artifacts. I am sure that everyone has heard that buzzing come through a speaker when their phone is about to ring. I have been working on vehicle trackers for the first time in a little while. Generally the sounds that the vehicle tracking makes is different from all other GSM traffic. But sometimes the sound is different, sounding like SMS traffic. And I find myself going for my phone almost automatically.
The strange thing about SMS sounds is that I am able to work out how long an SMS message is before I get it. A message of over 160 characters takes two or more long bursts of buzzing, whereas shorter messages only have a single burst.
