Spyware
Thanks to testing some software, I was infected with some Spyware/Adware.
The first symptom was setting all searches to go to Top Five Search.Com,
rather than Google. I found a number of SpyWare programs - and found that Hijack This was a good program to
remove some of the problems.
Running HijackThis, I looked at \"O2 - BHO\" Browser Help Objects and found
a few entries that should not belong there. Importantly there was a
reference to a program called adroar.dll. What I needed to do was to then
delete this in HijackThis.
Then I exited out of IE, and then deleted the DLL from the disk, and then
ran RegEdit. Running RegEdit I deleted ALL references to this DLL in the
registry. This fixed things
