Cabling

At least here in Australia, things are changing with all communications
cabling. Unfortunately this does include CoAx and Cat5. There does not seem
to be a requirement for a licensed cabler to actually install these type of
cables *yet* provided they are not connected to CableTV or the phone system,
but there is the potential for that to happen.
So, if you are putting in cabling yourself, what basic rules should you
follow?

 | Do not share holes with 240V power and other cables no matter what
Keep 240V seperated by at least 5 CM when the cables are run, even if
they need to cross each other.
Powerpoint terminals and communications outlet terminals must be at
least 15 CM apart. |
Of course that is only my interpretation of the rules. You should always
check them out yourself - they are available on www.aca.gov.au. The full
rules are available in the Communications Cabling Manual from Standards
Australia (www.standards.com.au)
