The web services stuff I got in last night is really cool. As usual it is taking me some time to work out how to drive the thing, and I am finding the occasional bug. I should say that by a bug I do not mean a major thing… I am talking about a field not being returned from a database here or there, or a hierarchical function traversing down a tree instead of up. Simple things really.
I am very slowly getting up to speed on SQLserver and SQL. I have done bits and pieces in the past, but generally I have not needed to work much on databases on a day to day basis. It is only during development that I learn all the fun things and work out how to do what I need to do. To be honest, it would have taken me a heap more time, effort and money to write just the database stored procedures than outsourcing them. I am definitely ahead.
The latest issue of PHD Comics is cool. I certainly I am not as bad as the woman in the cartoon… I am sure that I am not. I know that I am not. I hope!
And finally, there is a story in the SMH about how NSAS has misplaced the original high quality images of the moon landing. This story has been around for a few weeks and finally picked up by a major paper. I hope they find the tapes.
