Some people just do strange things. I know that I could be called strange for even posting about this one… But a chemist in the USA has decided to determine the composition of his ear wax and blog about it. What is even worse is that when he worked out two of the three components, someone else was able to correctly guess the third one. Surely this person must be nominated for an Ig Nobel prize later this year.

In other news, Australian ex-pat and designer of the Applix 1616 computer Andrew Moreton has got himself employed by Google. Andrew is the maintainer of the current Linux Kernel and the right hand man to Linus who originally wrote Linux. I have never met Andrew, but spoken to him and his wife online many times.

Last night I was watching a BBC documentry on Live Aid back in 1985. I found the majority of the story hilarious – how disorganised people were, and how Bob Geldolf was bending the truth to get people to participate. Because of the number of people attending they were flying artists in by helicopter. But the only place nearby to land was the cricket pitch, and a game was on… So when the chopper came in they would grab the stumps, go inside, wait for the people to get out, and then finish the game.
