Evaluating Stuff

In New Zealand I was staying in a friends house in Coatesville. Sure, this sounds like some small town, and it is. They have a single restraunt, a small corner shop type takeaway place, an antique shop and a couple of other shops. But that does not tell the whole story. The city of Albany is about 3-4 minutes drive away – with all the normal shops that you would expect in a reasonably sized town. Such as Dick Smith, The Warehouse, Rebel Sports, Burger King, many banks, Video Ezy. And Westfields are building a shopping centre there.

The farm I was staying on was large and quiet. Always green, with a creek running down the middle. The view from all the windows showed nothing but the property itself. Phones and the internet worked well. The house was beautiful. There was a nice swimming pool, and lots of space for me to go running if I had wanted. Outside the guest house door was a tennis court.

This is all about 30 minutes from the center of Auckland.

Now, it strikes me, why wouldn’t I want to like to live somewhere like that? Makes you think. The problem is finding somewhere in Sydney with enough land, at a reasonable price. I am not sure that it exists… But I like the idea of buying a few quarter acre blocks and just tearing down the houses. And then building a single house in it’s place. With my business taking off maybe I will actually be able to afford to do this.

Clothes

I have taken a leaf from the ‘Queer Eye for the Straight Guy’ book and gone through my wardrobe with a fine tooth comb. I have collected all sorts of old clothes and put them in a bag for charity. Everything from old T-Shirts (many never worn from different parts of the world) to polyester shirts. Even some Pacific Power shirts which are not much use any more since the company no longer exists and I no longer work there. All in all I filled up a large garbage bag with clothes. And I have more to do. This is a good start. Phase two will involve looking at the 15 pairs of jeans I have and seeing if they still fit and getting rid of some pairs.

Once I have finished on the wardrobe, I will work on the garage. Actually, despite appearances, the Garage is getting cleaner. I have taken one load of mostly timber to the tip already, and will probably be taking some more loads soon. Stuff that is junk. Pure Junk.

Finding Me

When I was in New Zealand, Kevin and I had a competition of who could do the best Google search to find pages relating only to him. It started getting strange and involved about 10 search terms. Fortunately finding me is easy. Just do a google search for VK2TDS
