Channel Seven is running adverts right now for this show called “Surprise Wedding 2” where guys are conned to some to the studio for their own wedding. Of course without telling them before hand. And with this series they are saying that one of the guys says no. <\/p>\n
I have mixed feelings about this personally. Part of me feels that if I were in that situation I would say no on principle – the fact that someone would need to blackmail me into getting married on national TV. I just have an ethical problem with this. <\/p>\n
But then I think about the issue more closely and I find that my feelings are not so clear cut. There is prima facie assumption that the reason why the two are not married is because the guy has decided against it. There is also the knowledge that in most if not all cases the couple would be living together in a defacto relationship anyway. Or even a defacto defacto relationship. <\/p>\n
And I think it is likely that the woman wants to commit further, getting married, but that there is resistance from the guy. I can see how this would cause the woman to feel inferior in the relationship, and quite insecure. <\/p>\n
So, how would I feel if I was placed in this situation. I would be rather upset I suspect. In my mind I would hope that I would not get married in such a situation, but not for the obvious reason. My opinion is that I would say no because I was obviously not ready for mariage. And as soon as I was ready I would say yes. I would also hope that it would not take years to make a decision, unline many of the people on this type of show.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
