{"id":2387,"date":"2005-07-12T17:15:00","date_gmt":"2005-07-12T07:15:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/new.radio-active.net.au\/web3\/2387\/"},"modified":"2014-10-10T13:08:59","modified_gmt":"2014-10-10T02:08:59","slug":"2387","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.radio-active.net.au\/web3\/2387","title":{"rendered":""},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Cruising through the normal WWW sites I found a link to this cute article on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.networkworld.com\/news\/2005\/071105widernetcoaster.html\">NetworkWorld<\/a> that briefly mentions some of the technology used in amusement park rides, and is more on how a journalist can get himself into an amusement park for free to ride one cool ride.<\/p>\n<p>On <a href=\"http:\/\/www.msnbc.msn.com\/id\/8464276\" \/>MSNBC<\/a> is an article about some wonderful new technology that is soon to make mobile phones and wireless LAN&#8217;s work at ranges siginifcantly longer than possible at the moment. It sounds a lot like another &#8216;spread spectrum&#8217; technique to me&#8230; And the arguments are not making sense.<\/p>\n<p>They claim that the base station will be worth about $350K, and the chips are about $6. The problem is that the base station and the chips are effectively the same technology. Maybe not exactly, but close enough. Needless to say I am highly skeptical. <\/p>\n<p>I have been hit with the French change of the decimal point again&#8230; They use the comma as a decimal point&#8230; And my software does not like this.
