It is called Basement Books, and whenever I go past I drop in and pick up some books. And I invariably spend more than I want to there. Thankfully the books are so much cheaper than elsewhere. I picked up $401.75 in books for the bargain basement price of only $49.75. That is what I call good value.

Sure, I would probably not have picked up a copy of ‘The .Net Common Language Infrastructure Annoted Standard’ at $100, but at $9 it was not bad. Actually, looking at it I am not sure I actually need that book at all, but at the price it was worth it. It is good to have in the professional library in case I need it.

Other books such as Understanding BizTalk, and Teach Yourself XML in 21 days are probably essential reading for me at the moment – particularly the first one. They are worth it… And I was looking to buy a BizTalk book anyway – and for the price of it I got the entire library. The XML one is actually a newer version of the Teach Yourself XML in 24 hours that I purchased back in 2001 for $49… All in all a good deal.

On a different subject, thanks to The Times in London I have a copy of Tim Curry Reading the first book from ‘A Series of Unfortunate Events’ for my iPod’. This is a freebee as an eBook. Sounds interesting…

Under the tunel between central railway station and UTS in Sydney is a cool bookshop.
