I had an idea it was a horrible deal. Doing a bit of searching I found the <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Garmin\">Garmin Wikipedia page<\/a>. This was enlightening. It turns out that the GPS 100 was released in 1990 as Garmin&#8217;s first product. And for something like a GPS receiver, 15 or 16 years is a LONG time. <\/p>\n<p>The other thing that was noted in this page was that the Shuttle Accident in 1996 delayed the GPS satellites by two years. They ended up re-designing the satellites so that they would fit in a Delta II rocket rather than going up in the shuttle. Probably a very wise move, and a more appropriate use of resources I would guess. <\/p>\n<p>The Unread Email list has less than 50 entries now. I hope to have it down to 20 or so within an hour. I will see how that goes.
