It is good, but it really is a bit slow. Connected to Ethernet I am getting a speed of about 1.5 MBytes/Second onto the device. This is about double the download speed I get on the Internet, but it is still much slower than the 10 MBytes/Second that I could be getting if the network link was fully utilized. From what I can gather, the USB speed is MUCH faster, but I would rather have this device on the network.

So what I suspect is happening is that this device used a USB to HDD interface. When you plug in a USB cable, it disconncts the processor. When you remove it, the processor is connected via USB. And this processor does not have enough computing ‘grunt’. It would be cute to try over-clocking the processor, seeing what I could get out of it.

Apart from copying files to my HDD I have also been designing a major change to my TeamTrack application. At the moment I am documenting the changes that are needed, on the basis that the changes are so extreme that I need to think about the usability before anything else. Interesting piece of software, once it gets written!

I am slightly dissapointed with the ViPowER VPA-3528Net device that I bought yesterday.
