\nfrom 1992 – mostly relating to kernel hacking… This was around the same
\ntime that Linus was starting to hack the LINUX kernel. Puts me in some
\ninteresting company.<\/p>\n

\r\nFrom: D Smith (drsmith@uts.EDU.AU)\r\nSubject: Login Question - Bug?\r\nNewsgroups: comp.os.minix\r\nDate: 1992-05-11 12:48:32 PST\r\n \r\n\r\nI have been doing some playing arround with my hacked Minix and hav\r\ntried the following\r\n login drsmith &\r\n\r\nWhere the account drsmith has no password...\r\n\r\nWhat i get is (when run from root) is a single shell for the person\r\nwhere one command may be executed before it returnd to the root prompt\r\nbut more importantly is the result whan I get a who.\r\n\r\nI get a result showing that drsmith is logged in on tty3 (not unusual for\r\nmy system) and the process number of my shell.\r\n\r\nHowever when I kill -9 -9 and then re-login doing the same thing - These\r\nnames (drsmith) are still logges on with the same process - and if i repeat\r\nthe procedure the process number of these stupid logins are all identical and\r\nequal to the shell I have since killed.\r\n\r\nAny solutions?\r\n\r\nIs this a doccumented Bug?\r\n\r\ndarryl\r\n\r\n
