I know that if these ports are on seperate interupt\r\nlines it should not be hard, but I am new to minix.\r\n\r\nSome serial cards let com ports be assigned to any interupt - such\r\nas com 3 being on int 5 and com 4 being on int 9 ( or int 2 on an xt)\r\n\r\nThe kernel would then only need to be re-written to accepts these interupts\r\nas serial devices...\r\n\r\nAny help would be useful - If there are any solutions gained I will post them\r\nhere...\r\n\r\ndarryl smith\r\n\r\nElectricity commision of NSW -- drsmith@amdahl.ccsd.uts.edu.au\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
\r\nFrom: D Smith (drsmith@uts.EDU.AU)\r\nSubject: Solution - Com ports 3 and 4 - Beta test\r\nNewsgroups: comp.os.minix\r\nDate: 1992-04-27 02:51:53 PST\r\n \r\n\r\nHi there .....\r\n\r\nI have been able to use all 4 com ports on my computer at home - Using\r\nseparate interupts for each line. I have the patches uuencoded avaliable\r\nthrough email. If anyone would like a copl please email me. I will post the\r\npatches when the bugs are out.\r\n\r\nDarryl Smith\r\ndrsmith@amdahl.ccsd.uts.edu.au\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
\r\nFrom: D Smith (drsmith@uts.EDU.AU)\r\nSubject: Login Question - Bug?\r\nNewsgroups: comp.os.minix\r\nDate: 1992-05-11 12:48:32 PST\r\n \r\n\r\nI have been doing some playing arround with my hacked Minix and hav\r\ntried the following\r\n login drsmith &\r\n\r\nWhere the account drsmith has no password...\r\n\r\nWhat i get is (when run from root) is a single shell for the person\r\nwhere one command may be executed before it returnd to the root prompt\r\nbut more importantly is the result whan I get a who.\r\n\r\nI get a result showing that drsmith is logged in on tty3 (not unusual for\r\nmy system) and the process number of my shell.\r\n\r\nHowever when I kill -9 -9 and then re-login doing the same thing - These\r\nnames (drsmith) are still logges on with the same process - and if i repeat\r\nthe procedure the process number of these stupid logins are all identical and\r\nequal to the shell I have since killed.\r\n\r\nAny solutions?\r\n\r\nIs this a doccumented Bug?\r\n\r\ndarryl\r\n\r\n
\r\nFrom: D Smith (drsmith@uts.EDU.AU)\r\nSubject: Re: tty2 and modem\r\nNewsgroups: comp.os.minix\r\nDate: 1992-06-02 21:56:54 PST\r\n \r\n\r\ntim@maths.tcd.ie (Timothy Murphy) writes:\r\n\r\n>> I'd like to know how to use a modem under minix using tty2 instead of tty1\r\n>> (com2 instead of com1).
