Alcatel SpeedTouch Pro Expert Mode

 

Expert Mode

You may want to check out the AlcaTool software that
provides a simple WWW interface to configuring the SpeedTouch. You should
also concider replacing your SpeedTouch Pro with a D-Link DSL-500. I did,
and found that it worked MUCH better. A hint with the D-Link is to make sure
you upgrade it to the latest firmware.To use these commands on your Alcatel ADSL Speedtouch you need to log in
as EXPERT. To do this log in as normal through the command interface.
When you are logged in type EXPERT. It is case sensative.

The password is dependant on your modem – it can be determined here.

To obtain the sync rates (and other diagnostics) from the Alcatel STH
(SpeedTouch Home) DSL modem, the command-line interface (CLI) via telnet
must be utilized. First a warning: to get the sync rates, the modem has to
be in the Trace & Debug (or EXPERT) mode. You should already be familiar
with the CLI before proceeding. If you are comfortable, here are the steps
necessary to extract the information:

Telnet into the modem and enter EXPERT mode. (See FAQ entry)
Since the STH only stores the downstream sync rates by default, it
is necessary to do this step if you wish to see the upstream data.
At the command prompt, type “tdsl golden on” and hit enter. The modem will
now re-sync and store both the upstream and downstream sync statistics.
To view the statistics (after the modem has sync’d up), type “golden
operational_data” You should now see your line-specific results. A
sample output looks like this:
