Stand Alone GPS Tracking Unit

TinyTrak3 is a GPS position encoder which, when connected to a GPS and a radio, will transmit its location at an adjustable rate. It works by modulating the GPS data into tones that can be transmitted through any radio system - UHF, VHF, Trunked. TinyTrak3 is a construction project providing an inexpensive way to build a mobile tracker without the need for a full TNC. It is configured by connecting to a computer's serial port, and running a simple configuration tool which allows setting of all user options.
TinyTrak3 adds the following features to the previous TinyTrakII:



   Power Saving feature with a power relay on SW2

   Burst after voice / Send Position Now input

   TimeStamped packets (both hour/minute/seconds and day/hour/minute)

   Serial inversion option for TTL GPS/computer

   Alternating Digi Paths

   Inverted Carrier Detect option for direct connection to some radios

   Support for Fixed Position status reports

   New Silk-screened solder masked printed circuit board

   Optional translucent case

   Reduced susceptibility to RF

TinyTrak3 also has the following features from the TinyTrakII:





   Decodes any NMEA-0183 compatible GPS sending $GPRMC or $GPGGA sentences.

   Transmits position, altitude, speed, and heading.

   Supports SmartBeaconing, which adjusts transmission rates to speed and turning.

   4 LEDs which show power, transmit, GPS status, and carrier detect.

   Can transmit position in MIC-E, or ASCII text format.

   Two configurations, with all user options switchable.

Weather Track

WXTrak is a weather information encoder which, when connected to a compatible weather staion and a radio, will transmit the weather data at an adjustable rate. It is a construction project based on the TinyTrak3, and provides an inexpensive way to transmit weather information without the need for a full TNC.

WXTrak is configured by connecting to a computer's serial port, and running a simple configuration tool which allows setting of all user options. It transmits the APRS weather protocol. Since it is designed around the TinyTrak3, It is available with an optional case.

Currently supported weather stations include the Radio Shack WX200, the Oregon Scientific WM-918, and the Peet Brothers Ultimeter 100, Ultimeter 800, Ultimeter 2000, and Ultimeter 2100. Future versions are expected to support Davis and Dallas 1-wire stations.

TinyTrak3 Case - A$10   The TinyTrak3 is designed to fit this translucent plastic case. The case is pre-cut with holes for the DB-9 connectors, and both the sheared PCB, and the non-sheared PCB will fit. Also suits the WeatherTrak.
Programming Cable - A$10   TinyTrak3 Female To Female Gender Changer needed to connect a TinyTrak3 to the computer for configuration.
