When Al Gore was the Vice President of the USA, he once claimed to have ‘Invented the Internet’… Unfortunately this slip up followed him for the rest of his career in public life, probably contributing to his defeat in the presidential election with George W Bush. Well, now Bush has made a similar remark. According to Engadget the US Government funded research for “the government funded research in microdrive storage, electrochemistry and signal compression. They did so for one reason: It turned out that those were the key ingredients for the development of the iPod.

Right now I am using RemoteDesktop to administer a server of mine. Generally it works really really well. But right now there are two issues… One which is self-inflicted and the other is a pain. Starting with the pain first, what I find is that sometimes when trying to copy files from the server to a network drive is that for some reason the system tries to copy the files via my PC over the remote desktop connection. No idea why. At least that is what it looks like is happening. I need to resolve this since it is a real PAIN! It seems to be related to how I copy the files… Right Click Vs. Edit Copy Vs. Ctrl-C Vs Drag and Drop, but since many of the actions are instinctive, I have not managed to put my finger on it.

The other issue is more of a problem… One of the HDD’s on my server is about full up… I need to pick up a new HDD in the next week or two… Time to get a multi-terabyte disk array 🙂
