I did a bit of research over the power usage from Sunday. Apparently the morning and evening power usage were the highest on record for a sunday. From what I can work out if the temperature had been on a business day then there would have been significant blackouts. I can just imagine the chaos that this would have caused everywhere - we are so reliant on power these days, and turning the power system back on is a long and involved process. Not something to look forward to. Unfortnately a black start would probably be a good thing for the entire electricity industry.
